Most people wait years before they say any of this to a professional. Not because it is not affecting them, but because they cannot work out who they would even ask, and because the handful of people who do this work well are usually full.
We are four clinicians in one California practice who specialise in exactly this, and we have room.
What we work with
- Desire that has changed, disappeared, or never matched your partner's
- Pain, difficulty or avoidance around sex, and the anxiety that grows around it
- Intimacy after an affair, an illness, a birth, a loss, or a long stretch of just not talking about it
- Kink, and relationships that are open, polyamorous or otherwise not the default script
- Sexuality and gender, including people still working out what is true for them
- Shame carried out of a family, a faith community, or a relationship that is over
None of that needs to be resolved before you get here. Bringing it is the work.
How it works
- You send the formTell us as much or as little as you want. Nobody reads it looking for a reason to say no.
- A short consultation, freeA real conversation about what you are looking for and whether we are the right people for it. No charge and no obligation either way.
- You are matched and bookedWith the clinician whose focus fits and who has room now, not in three months.
What it costs
$200 to $250 a session. We provide a superbill on request, and many people use it to claim part of that back from an out of network plan.
This is a specialist practice. All four of us work in sex therapy, intimacy and affirming care, and that is the whole of what we do. Nobody here fits this in around a general caseload.

Questions people ask
Do I have to be in a relationship to come?
No. Plenty of the work is with one person on their own, about their own body, history or desire. Partnered or not makes no difference to whether this is for you.
Is this awkward?
The first few minutes sometimes are. Then it stops being, because you are talking to somebody who has this conversation every day and has heard a version of yours before.
Is it really all by video?
Yes. We are licensed in California and see clients anywhere in the state by video. For this work in particular, a lot of people find it easier to talk from their own home than from a waiting room.
Do you take insurance?
No, we are private pay, and sessions are $200 to $250. We provide a superbill on request, which many people send to an out of network plan to claim part of it back. It also keeps a diagnosis off your record.
What if I do not know how to describe what is wrong?
Most people do not, and that is not a problem to solve before you get here. Bring the closest words you have.
